What AI search cites

AI answers cite blog posts on your own domain

Rankwise checked 22,705 citations from Perplexity, ChatGPT, Claude and Google AI Overviews between June and October 2026.

54%

Blog posts and articles

More than half of the pages that AI answers cite are blog posts and articles.

96%

On the company's own domain

Of the cited blog posts, 96% are on the company's own site. Medium, Substack and LinkedIn articles get the other 4%.

69%

Of Claude's citations

Claude cites blog posts and articles more often than any other AI engine in the study.

Method: the citations come from 194 tracked questions, June 1 to October 31, 2026. A page counts as a blog post or article when its address has a blog or article path, or a long article slug. Gemini returns only site names and Google sends some links through a redirect, so the study leaves out those 821 citations.

Your brand

Make the blog look like your business

Pick one of five designs. Then add your logo, your brand colour and a font pair, and every page of the blog follows them.

  • Light mode, dark mode, or a mode that follows the reader's device.
  • A home page with a large heading, a button, featured posts and rows for each category.
  • Menu links in the header and links to your social profiles in the footer.

  • Edit any article in the Rankwise editor before or after it goes live.
  • Each week, Rankwise checks if ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini and Google AI Overviews name your brand.

Two ways to host

Your domain, or ours

Both give you the same blog, the same design and the same posts. Pick the address that fits you.

On your domain

yourdomain.com/blog

Your blog lives at yourdomain.com/blog, the best place for SEO, or on blog.yourdomain.com. You add a few lines to your site's setup, and the guides below show each step. Readers and search engines only see your address.

FAQ

Questions about the free blog

Still have a question?
Is the blog hosting really free?

Yes. Hosting, HTTPS and an address at yourname.rankwiseblog.com cost nothing, and so does putting the blog on your own domain at /blog. There is no card and no trial that runs out.

What is the catch?

There is one limit: 10,000 visits a month per blog, with unlimited posts. A free blog also shows a small "Published with Rankwise" line in its footer. It includes 3 AI-written posts, and more AI-written articles need a paid plan.

What happens if I go over the visit limit?

Nothing in the first month. If your blog has more than 10,000 visits a month two months in a row, new posts pause until you pick a plan. Your blog stays online the whole time, and every post stays readable and indexable.

Can I use my own domain?

Yes, for free. Your blog can live at yourdomain.com/blog, on a subdomain like blog.yourdomain.com, or on a domain used only for the blog. You add a few lines to your site's setup, and our guides show each step for Cloudflare, Vercel and Nginx. Readers and search engines only see your address. If you do not want to change your site, the blog lives at yourname.rankwiseblog.com.

Will Google index my blog?

Yes. Every blog has a sitemap and search markup on every post, and every page is plain HTML that any search engine can read.

Will ChatGPT and other AI assistants read my blog?

Yes. Every blog has an llms.txt file that lists your posts, and a clean text copy of every post. AI assistants and agents look for both.

Can Rankwise write the articles for me?

Yes. Your free blog includes 3 AI-written posts, with no card. For more, a paid plan starts at $59 a month. Rankwise finds the questions your buyers ask, writes a sourced article for each one and publishes it to your blog. Every plan starts with a 3-day trial and has a 14-day money-back guarantee. Paid blogs have no visit limit and no footer line.

What happens to my blog if I stop paying?

It stays online and search engines can still index it. It goes back to the free terms: the visit limit and the footer line.

Why a subfolder like /blog and not a subdomain?

A post at yourdomain.com/blog adds to the authority of your main site. Search engines often treat a subdomain as a separate site, so Rankwise serves your blog in a subfolder.

Can I move my posts somewhere else later?

Yes. Every post has a text copy with its title, description and dates, so you can move it to any other platform.

Can I change how the blog looks?

Yes. Pick one of five designs, then add your logo, your brand colour and a font pair. The blog can use light mode, dark mode, or the reader's own setting.
