1. Who we are
Rankwise is operated by Founder Ventures Holdings, LLC, a Delaware limited liability company (“we”, “us”). This policy applies to https://tryrankwise.com, the Rankwise application, our API and our connectors. For any privacy question, email info@tryrankwise.com.
2. Information we collect
- Account information: your name, email address and login details when you create an account.
- Billing information: your name, billing address and payment method. Stripe processes card details. We never see your full card number.
- Workspace content: the domains, keywords, questions, briefs, articles and connections you add to Rankwise.
- Contact form: your name, email address and message when you write to us through the contact form.
- Usage information: the pages you visit, the actions you take in the product, and technical details about your device and browser.
- Server logs: IP address, date and time, requested page, referring page, browser and operating system.
- Source of your sign-up: how you found us. This is the UTM parameters of the link you followed, the referring page, the landing page, the language version and any campaign identifier, for your first and your most recent recorded visit. You can also tell us how you heard about us when you sign up. This field is optional. If we emailed you before you signed up, we match your email address against our own send log to record which member of our team contacted you.
3. How we use your information
- To provide, operate and improve Rankwise.
- To process payments, free trials and refunds.
- To answer your messages and give support.
- To send service, account and product emails, and marketing emails you can unsubscribe from.
- To learn which channels bring sign-ups and paying customers. We pass the source of your sign-up to Stripe as metadata on your customer record when you start a paid plan.
- To keep the service secure and prevent abuse.
- To comply with the law.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
5. Service providers
We share information with these providers only as far as they need it to run Rankwise for us:
- Amazon Web Services: hosting and server logs.
- Supabase: our database, including contact form messages.
- Clerk: sign-in and account management.
- Stripe: payments, subscriptions and refunds.
- Resend: email delivery.
- PostHog and Plausible: product and website analytics. PostHog uses a cookie (see section 4), Plausible does not. Form inputs are masked.
- Slack: internal notifications to our team, for example about new sign-ups and contact form messages.
- OpenAI and Anthropic: text drafts, embeddings and images.
- DataForSEO: AI answer, citation and keyword data.
- Firecrawl: reading public web pages, for example for a domain analysis.
Please do not put sensitive personal information (such as health or financial details) into prompts, briefs or articles. We may also disclose information when the law requires it, or as part of a merger, sale or transfer of our business.
6. AI assistants and connectors (MCP)
You can connect Rankwise to an AI assistant through our MCP server at “/api/mcp”. The assistant then calls Rankwise tools for you.
- We receive the tool name and the inputs the assistant sends with it (for example a domain, a question or an article ID), the access token, your IP address and the assistant's user agent. We do not receive your conversation with the assistant.
- When you connect, you sign in and choose one workspace and its permissions. We store the assistant's registration and, for your connection, your user, workspace, permissions and the times of issue and last use. We store tokens only as a hash. An access token lasts 1 hour, a refresh token 60 days and an authorization code 5 minutes. You can disconnect an assistant at any time in the workspace settings, and the token stops working at once.
- Tool results are stored in your workspace as if you used the application directly. For tools that spend credits or publish, we also store the result with the assistant's retry key, so a repeated call never charges twice.
- Some tools work without sign-in. For those calls we record the method, the tool name, a search term of up to 500 characters, the assistant's user agent and whether the call succeeded. We use the IP address to limit the number of requests but do not store it in this record.
The provider of your AI assistant receives the tool results we return. Its own privacy policy governs what it does with them.
7. Email
We send service, notification and product emails through Resend. We process your email address and delivery status (delivered, bounced, complained) to keep email working. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link.
8. Retention
We keep personal information for as long as your account is active or as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy, and longer where the law requires it (for example tax records).
- Deleting your account: if you delete your account, or ask us by email to delete it, we cancel any running subscription. We then delete your user account and the data stored with it: your workspaces, articles, connections, tracked domains and the source of your sign-up. Work you did in a workspace that belongs to another customer's organization stays with that organization. At Stripe we remove the source of your sign-up from your customer record. We keep the records tax law requires (for example invoices and our record of credits), unlinked from your account. To stop a free trial or the money-back guarantee being used twice, we also keep a record of each trial and each refund (email address, an identifier of your payment card, and domains).
- Chat history: we removed the in-app AI assistant in October 2026 and no longer store chat messages. An hourly job deletes all messages stored before then.
- Cookie “rw_attr”: expires 90 days after it is set.
- MCP tokens: deleted with your user account or the workspace.
9. Your choices and rights
You can ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, or to send you a copy. You can also ask us to stop using the source of your sign-up. Email info@tryrankwise.com and we will answer within 30 days. We will not treat you differently for making a request.
Depending on where you live (for example California or the European Union), you may have additional rights under local law, including the right to complain to a data protection authority. We honor those rights.
10. Security
We encrypt data in transit, store AI assistant tokens only as hashes, and limit access to the people who need it. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Children
Rankwise is a business tool and is not for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you think a child gave us information, email info@tryrankwise.com and we will delete it.
12. International users
We are based in the United States. Our providers may process your information in the United States and other countries. By using Rankwise, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in those countries.
13. Changes to this policy
We update this policy when our data practices change. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change is material, we tell account holders by email before it takes effect.
